Type
A solid slab of wood, or a solid-looking chambered one, with the pickups bolted or set into it. Fender got there first with the Broadcaster in late 1950, which became the Telecaster and the Esquire, then the Stratocaster in 1954. Gibson answered with the Les Paul family, the SG from 1961 and the Firebird, and Gretsch built its Duo Jet on a chambered mahogany body. Mosrite's Joe Maphis double-neck lives here too.
