Type
A thin hollow body with something solid inside it. Gibson glued a maple block down the middle of a thin archtop in 1958 to make the ES-335, and the ES-345 followed with stereo wiring and a Varitone. Rickenbacker's Capri line from 1958 (the 330, 360, 325 and the 360/12) hollows its bodies out of solid wood, and Mosrite's Combo pairs the Ventures shape with an f-hole.
